This summer, Emerging Leaders United (ELU) members made an impact as they enriched both the community and their own lives. Check out how ELU:
- Helped to fight hunger by helping to package 250,000 meals at United Way’s Big Cheese event.
- Partnered in United Way’s Focus Area Friday to explore the partnership between United Way and the LGBT Center of Greater Reading.
- Painted an outdoor exhibit to benefit Rock Hollow Woods Environmental Learning Center.
- Foraged in the City of Reading with Big Brothers Big Sisters Club of Unmatched Littles (COUL) kids in a foraging adventure led by ELU Cabinet member Amanda Funk, Director of The Widoktadwen Center of Native Knowledge.
- Learned about the importance of ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) members in our community in a virtual session led by United Way’s Community Impact Assistant Director, Kristin Gehris.
- Helped to bring restoration to the survivors of sex trafficking by painting the safe houses of FREE (Freedom and Restoration for Everyone Enslaved)
- Cleaned and organized for Clare of Assisi House.
We are excited to continue to serve our community with all of you at our upcoming events!
