YOUR GIFT MEETS CRITICAL NEEDS

United Way of Berks County works with 33 Agency Partners to provide programs and services that benefit individuals of all ages, from all areas of the county. When you give to United Way, your dollars are invested in these programs, meeting critical needs in the areas of Education, Health, Financial Stability and Safety Net Services.

Your Gift Helps Kids Become Better Readers

Your United Way gift is invested in initiatives like Ready.Set.READ!, which provides critical reading and literacy programs for local children from birth to third grade. One of the main components of Ready.Set.READ! is the Star Readers tutoring program. Last year 389 trained volunteers tutored nearly 400 students in 35 elementary schools.

Your Gift Helps in a Crisis

When the COVID-19 pandemic caused a crisis in our community, United Way quickly established a pool of grant funds to meet a variety of critical needs, including emergency food, housing, shelter, protective equipment, emergency childcare for essential workers and virtual services. Forty-five grants were awarded to 39 local organizations helping 290,000 Berks Countians.
