PURPOSE OF POSITION: To provide support for Ready.Set.READ! program delivery specific to the Growing Readers program targeting early learning activities to increase language and literacy development of children from birth to Pre-Kindergarten.
To succeed in this position, candidates should have exceptional communication, be adaptive to new technologies/databases, have an attention to detail and ability to take initiative in problem solving.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the Ready.Set.READ! Initiative
  • Work collaboratively as part of the RSR/CI team to deliver the Growing Readers program, a program partnering with childcare providers in the city of Reading to lay the foundation for the development of literacy skills to ensure future reading success.
  • Assist in the recruitment and enrollment of candidates, Early Childhood Educators from local childcare centers, in professional development component;
  • Mentor assigned candidates through coursework and the Child Development Associate credentialing process;
  • Provide ongoing candidate coaching, in a childcare center setting, to maintain and increase the use of new and enhanced teacher practices related to language and literacy development;
  • Assist with administrative and clerical tasks associated with all Growing Readers activities, including maintaining a database of contacts, program and key results data.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)—fluent written and speaking level required
  • Comfortable providing mentoring and/or coaching to adult learners
  • Strong ethics and a high level of personal and professional integrity

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: At minimum an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with at least two years of experience in an early childhood learning childcare/classroom setting.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing these duties employee is frequently required to sit, walk, talk and hear. Employee is regularly required to stand, reach, stoop, handle and/or lift up to 10 pounds. Occasionally employee will need to lift, move, and handle items up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions of the position.
Travel: Frequent travel to attend meetings, events, or conferences/trainings within the County of Berks and occasionally outside of the county and/or state is expected. Travel is primarily local, some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.

As applicable: Valid driver’s license, state mandated automobile insurance and reliable transportation or access to reliable and available transportation.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 – $50,000.00 per year
