Community Impact Staff Specialist (Full-time)
United Way of Berks County is seeking a passionate, bilingual (English/Spanish) early childhood education professional to join our dynamic team. In this rewarding role, you’ll help bring our Ready.Set.READ! initiative to life by supporting the Growing Readers program—an innovative effort designed to spark language and literacy development in children from birth through pre kindergarten.
Through hands-on early learning activities and meaningful family engagement, this position plays a vital role in helping young children build strong foundations for lifelong learning. Ready.Set.READ!, managed by United Way of Berks County, is a community-wide early literacy initiative dedicated to ensuring children enter school ready to read, learn, and succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively as part of the Community Impact team to deliver the Growing Readers program
- Assist in the recruitment and enrollment of candidates in professional development component
- Offer one-to-one and/or group encouragement and study opportunities
- Support assigned candidates with the Child Development Associate credentialing process
- Provide ongoing candidate coaching to maintain and increase the use of new and enhanced teacher practices related to language and literacy development
- Assist in the development of a process to increase enrollment into ECE Associate degree program
- Assist with administrative and clerical tasks associated with all Growing Readers activities, including maintaining a database of contacts, program and key results data
- Assist with collection of Growing Readers/CDA program data
What We’re Looking For::
- At least an associate degree in early childhood education, preferred
- At least two years of experience in the areas of early childhood education, with specific experience working in an early learning classroom (for example: Head Start, Pre-K Counts, childcare cent
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) fluent speaking level required
