The Tocqueville Society is a leadership giving and recognition program that fosters, promotes and recognizes the vital importance of community commitment and personal giving at an exceptional level. Members of the Tocqueville Society generously contribute $10,000 or more on an annual basis.
United Way of Berks County’s 150 individuals/couples contributed almost $3.5 million during the 2022 annual campaign. We are privileged to be the highest-ranking Tocqueville Society in membership nationwide when compared to like-sized communities. Additionally, we are pleased that 82% of our Tocqueville members are Loyal Contributors who have been giving to the United Way for ten or more consecutive years.

The 2023 Kindness Matters Challenge Match
An $800,000 Challenge Match to Multiply Your Generosity
Maximize your impact! Become a new Tocqueville Society member with a first-time annual gift of $10,000 or more, and the entire gift is matched. What a powerful way to invest in our community and make a positive difference in the lives of Berks Countians.
As a current member of the Tocqueville Society, increase your annual gift to a new giving level, and the entire gift will be matched. For example, if your current gift is $10,000 and you increase your gift to $12,500, the entire $12,500 gift will be matched. Current Tocqueville members can also take advantage of the challenge match by increasing your annual gift within a level. For example, if your current gift is $10,000, and you increase to $11,500, the additional $1,500 will be matched.
