ELU in Action April/May

Celebrate Earth Day Early with the Widoktadwen Center for Native Knowledge- ELU Cabinet member Amanda Funk, who is also the Center Executive Director, led ELU members in preparing garden plots in the Buttonwood Street Community Garden for the summer months.

Lunch on Us at Café Esperanza– members enjoyed their experience at this unique community café, located in Northwest Reading that provides the community with a “pay what you can” model. They learned more about their mission and how United Way of Berks County grants helped them.

Painting Potties with Tri-Valley YMCA- members assisted in painting three individual restrooms at the facility.

ELU members received a special invitation to an evening of learning with Jay Sidhu, Chairman and CEO of Customers Bancorp, Inc. and Executive Chairman of Customers Bank where he shared his inspiring life lessons.

Helping at Hope Rescue Mission– The ELU members in attendance learned about the work of Hope and how United Way partners with them, followed by sorting clothes for the guests of Hope.
