After completing United Way’s training program, Leadership Berks, Olivia Massaro knew that she wanted to continue being involved in Berks County. “I wanted to stay connected with people who enjoy learning about the community and connecting with others. Joining felt like the natural next step! It gives me the chance to meet like-minded individuals and learn more about the nonprofits that serve Berks.” That’s what lead her to join Emerging Leaders United! She found out about ELU through Leadership Berks, and she knew it would be a great fit.
Olivia works as a Marketing Specialist at Compleat Restorations. She’s involved with all things marketing, from social media and events to campaigns and writing creative copy. “Outside of work, I’ve volunteered with several nonprofits in Berks County over the years, including the Olivet Boys and Girls Club, the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, Friends of Nolde Forest, and Helping Harvest.” Not only is Olivia an active ELU member, she also just completed her first year on the ELU cabinet!
It’s safe to say that Olivia’s involvement with ELU has changed her life for the better. “ELU has had a positive impact on my life by providing opportunities to network in smaller groups and really learn about the people I meet, including their work, the organizations they’re involved with, and their passions. Participating in a wide range of events has also allowed me to continue learning more about our community, the resources available, and ways to give back.”
Olivia started volunteering at a young age. She knew from the get-go that giving back to your community was important. “I’ve volunteered most of my life and being part of the greater community allows me to step outside my everyday work and see the bigger picture of how people, organizations, and resources come together.” She finds it extremely rewarding to contribute to the community in meaningful ways, and ELU has allowed her to do just that.
When Olivia isn’t volunteering with ELU, or working as a marketing specialist, you can find her outside immersed in Berks County’s local parks. “I love the great outdoors and enjoy discovering new trails to hike. If you have any recommendations, send them my way!”
